It's not you. It's the food.
The food got engineered. You got blamed for the results.
Pick something off your shelf. We'll show you what changed.
WHAT YOU'RE UP AGAINST
73%
of the American food supply is now ultra-processed.
93%
of American adults are metabolically unhealthy.
99%
of new food additives have never been reviewed for safety.
This isn't a willpower problem.
It's a food supply problem.
OUR UNIQUE MECHANISM
The Biological
Recognition Gap
For every food in your kitchen, there is a version your body recognizes: one prepared the way it has been for centuries. There's also a version it doesn't recognize. One modified by industrial processing for speed, shelf life, and profit.
The gap between these two versions is making people sick.
Not your willpower. Not your genetics. The food.

The Pantry Scanner
Is it food, or is it a product?
Scan any barcode. See where it falls on the NOVA ultra-processed food scale, with a plain-English breakdown of what's in it -- and what to reach for instead.

This Month's Investigation
One food. One month. Every angle.
Every month we pick a single product off the American grocery shelf and take it apart in public. Where it came from. Who built it. What's actually in it. What it's doing to the people eating it. And what the version your body still recognizes looks like.
The investigation runs four weeks across Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube—short videos, primary-source documents, side-by-side comparisons, and the receipts to back all of it up.
This Month: The Loaf that Changed Us
How bread became one of the most ultra-processed foods in the American diet, from the roller mill in 1878 to the Chorleywood process in 1961, and how these changes are impacting your health.

Who is Behind the Heirloom Diet
Welcome to the Heirloom Family
I'm Nikole, and for most of my life, I blamed myself for my body, even though I had the science credentials that should have told me better.
In early 2025, my husband Jay received a brain tumor diagnosis that sent me into the research I wish I would have done decades earlier. What I found wasn't a willpower problem. It was a food problem: manufactured, on purpose, one industrialized food at a time. We pulled these foods out of our kitchen, and the metabolic ground we'd lost started coming back.
The Heirloom Diet is a family operation. Jay builds the kind of practical software a household needs to pull off a real-food kitchen in a modern week. Our daughter, Winter, is recovering a lost art so her generation don't have to start from zero the way I did.
If you've spent years being told your body is the problem, you're in the right place. It's not you. It's the food.
"For twenty-five years, I sat in rooms where decisions like these got made. The thing no one wants to say out loud is that nobody's actually watching the shelf."
~Nikole, on why she started Heirloom Diet
I stopped blaming myself for cravings I could never explain. One issue of the Almanac, and I finally understood what had been done to the food in my pantry.
I've read a hundred nutrition books. None of them connected the dots like this. the scanner showed me my "healthy" breakfast cereal contained UPF that I didn't even know existed.
The first nutritional information I've trusted in years. No supplements to sell. No fear-mongering. Just a scientist showing her work.
